Odorless turpentine is primarily used to clean brushes and painting tools used for oil paints. It is almost a scorched-down varnish that is produced from the distillation of crude oil. It is a slightly volatile solvent and, compared to balsamic turpentine, is slightly weaker but also toxic and harmful to health.

Poppy oil possesses not only medicinal properties, valuable for our body but also a very effective medium in oil painting. Poppy oil, due to oleic acid, dries slower than linseed, however, increases the amount of linolenic acid prevents yellowing and thus changes the colour of the image.
