Marbling Pébéo colors are used in accordance with a technique inspired by Japanese marbling on rice paper in the 11th century (Sumi nagashi), and then in Europe by nineteenth-century bookbinders. It is a process of transferring colors by simple contact with an object to decorate on a colored surface. This technique requires patience and attention, as well as little practice.
